COUNTERGROOVE
I have been a producer engineer for 14 years. In this time I have been through many phases, learning the ins and outs of audio production. For me it started back in the day playing in bands with my friends, working along side the fellowship at my church, and developing myself as a DJ and learning how to interact with a crowd.
In my late teens I took a more serious approach in learning about production techniques and recording. Late in high school I was part of a internship locally where I helped set up for recording sessions & frequently went out to support local music with my friends and family. At some point I decided that I wanted to produce electronic music. I became obsessed with synthesizers and sound design. I was also drawn to orchestral arrangements for film and video games. I remember spending an entire summer learning how to use native instruments massive, so I could make the type of sounds I frequently heard in my favorite tracks.
In my early 20s, upon rekindling some old friendships, I decided it was time to work with other artists and collaborators. This was an eye-opening time for me as I realized that I possess the ability to really help people hone in on their own creative endeavors. I have spent many years crate digging, exploring many genres of music from rock to jazz, metal to folk, indie, and of course electronic music brought me to the conclusion that the production is what made me so excited to explore what is possible in music.
So much of my focus in production now revolves around defining the key elements that make a song powerful. I have picked up on many techniques over the years listening to industry professionals Like Dave Pensado, Bob Clearmountain, Alan Parsons, Andy Wallace, Steve Duda, Trap Money Benny, Shellback the list goes on. This drive comes at no shortage of my own work solo and with collaborators, as I have put out hundreds of my own works on platforms like SoundCloud, Spotify, and through live performances. I take pride in creating an experience for my listeners to take them on a journey through sound and sensation. If it doesn’t light you up it isn’t a Countergroove production.
